GBS Wilde Finken

The Kindergärten Finkenau Foundation cooperates with the Lämmersieth elementary school and the ReBBZ Winterhude as part of the “All-day education and care at schools” (GBS) model.
GBS Wilde Finken organizes afternoon and vacation care for both schools. We look after around 220 children in the afternoon every day. Afternoon care includes lunch, learning time & support programs, course offerings & group times as well as free play and relaxation. In our daily work, we attach great importance to the children’s participation and a wide range of courses and activities.

Learning time

With our learning time model, we want to encourage the children to learn independently and on their own responsibility, while at the same time supporting them in their learning time tasks in the best possible way. It is important to us to take into account the children’s individual needs for rest, exercise and learning breaks.

Learning time takes place from Monday to Thursday from 1 to 2.30 PM, is organized by year group and coordinated with the respective lunchtimes of the year groups. The daily learning time is approx. 30 minutes. Children who take part in a support program do not have to complete any additional learning time tasks on this day. For years 2-4, supervised learning time rooms are available in which the children can complete their respective tasks. In addition to learning time tasks and learning diaries, work materials are also provided here. The tasks are set by the teachers, while the afternoon supervision ensures a quiet working atmosphere and assistance in the learning time rooms.

Courses on offer

From 2.30 to 4 PM, a variety of courses from different educational areas are offered daily. The children have the opportunity to choose a course every day. The choice of courses is made during the long breaks in the foyer of the main building. A course board is installed there, where the children can sign up for a course according to their interests. The children also have the opportunity to go to the school playground during free playtime.

Group time

Once a week, there is a group day for each reference group from 2.30 to 4 PM. On these days, the children of a year group or class group use our after-school and multi-purpose rooms for a group time together with their teachers. In good weather, the group time can also be used for excursions into the surrounding area.

Vacation care

Parents who have booked vacation care for their children at the school office can register their children online at wildefinken.finkenau.de for the desired vacation weeks at the GBS up to 4 weeks before the start of the respective vacation. A wide range of activities and excursions take place during the vacations. The respective vacation program will be sent to children and parents in advance. Children registered for the vacations will be registered for lunch. Vacation care takes place in our after-school care rooms and in the gymnastics hall. We also use various specialist rooms for activities. Excursion days are usually on Tuesday and Thursday.
