Offer

Childcare provision

The childcare provision includes a nursery for children from 11 months to 3 years and a kindergarten for children between 3 and 6 years. There are also places for children with early intervention needs. All children who are new to the facility are helped in the process of settling in following evaluated acclimatisation models for day-care centres.

The Eulennest is a bilingual day-care centre, which works following the principle of immersion instruction in German and English.

Educational offer

The aim of our educational work is to impart to the children a foundation for them to be able to develop into independent and self-confident people. One priority of our educational work is physical activity as the basis of development. This is fostered through psychomotor activities for indoors and outside. In addition, we work bilingually in German and English in accordance with the principle of immersion.

Another priority of ours is the close cooperation with the neighbouring senior citizen centre. Joint activities take place on a regular basis.

The children’s development is monitored and documented with the help of educational and learning stories.

History

The Eulennest day-care centre was Stiftung Kindergärten Finkenau’s second establishment, set up already 24 years ago. Since April 2012 it has been located in the new building at Finkenau 11a. Eulennest is located in a traffic-restricted street behind the senior citizens’ residence “Pflege und Wohnen” in the Finkenau quarter.

It takes approx. seven minutes on foot to reach it from the Mundsburg underground station (U3).

Day-care centre team

Qualified educators from a range of professions work at Finkenau’s facilities. Housekeeping and cleaning staff are also an integral part of the team. We are particularly committed to providing interns with qualified training.

Some teams receive additional support from volunteers or federal volunteers (“Bundesfreiwillige”).

Case discussions are held and pedagogical topics as well as conceptual and organisational matters discussed at the staff meetings that take place regularly. Our employees’ documentation and observation of the children’s development is an essential part of the work. All employees attend training courses on a regular basis.

Spatial layout

The Eulennest day-care centre is based in a new building that was planned out architecturally to provide a spacious nursery and kindergarten section as well as a large outdoor area (600 square metres) with a sandpit, swings, etc. We also share outdoor grounds with our neighbours from the senior citizen centre.
