Wurzelkinder

The Wurzelkinder nursery is located in the Wellingsbüttel district, about a three-minute walk from the Hoheneichen S1 train stop. Our bright rooms invite independent exploration and offer the children a variety of learning and educational opportunities. In addition to our outdoor area, we regularly explore the district and visit, for example, the park cemetery, playgrounds and take the S-Bahn. Good cooperation with families is an important part of our educational work.

Childcare provision

The Wurzelkinder crèche is a small facility with a family atmosphere. Children aged 10 months to 3 years are cared for here. Our partially open and needs-oriented concept enables the children to play an active role in shaping the day-to-day life of the day nursery and to develop their interests freely.

The children have several functional rooms at their disposal in which they can, for example, pursue psychomotor activities, give free rein to their creativity or relax and look at books. Early musical education is also firmly anchored in the daily routine, for example when we start the day together in the morning circle.

It is particularly important to us that the children learn how they can courageously stand up for their interests and needs within the scope of their abilities. We support them in developing their ego-competence and in experiencing their self-efficacy, for example by introducing the so-called STOP rule to show them their own and others’ limits.

Together with our partner daycare center Ratz und Rübe, we regularly celebrate festivals, such as the summer and lantern festivals. Many Wurzel children transfer to the Ratz and Rübe elementary groups as soon as they reach their 3rd birthday.

We acclimatize new children according to evaluated acclimatization models for daycare centers.

History

The Wurzelkinder nursery was opened on February 2, 2009 as the 20th facility of the Finkenau Nursery School Foundation. It is located in the Wellingsbüttel district on the border with Klein Borstel and is on the first floor of a former commercial building. The rooms were completely rebuilt and refurnished to meet the needs of the crèche children.

Day-care centre team

Educational specialists from different professions work together in the Finkenau facilities. Housekeepers and cleaners are also an integral part of the teams.

It is also particularly important to us to provide qualified guidance to interns. Some teams also receive support from volunteers or federal volunteers.

Regular staff meetings are held to discuss cases and pedagogical issues as well as conceptual and organizational matters. The documentation and observation of the child’s development by the employees is an essential part of the work. All employees regularly attend further training courses.
